'Meet and Greet' the Coaches - REPORT
Upwards of 40 people attended this event on a fine but steamy morning on Sunday 22nd of August 2010. Kristin Godridge and her team of five coaches, put the enthusiastic participants through a series of tennis drills, honing their forehands, backhands, volleys, smashes and serves. Everyone seemed to have an enjoyable time and hopefully picked up a few tips along the way.
If you wish to have some private coaching, whether individually or in a group, please drop Kristin a line at australasiatennis.hkfc@gmail.com.

Tennis Court Renovations - UPDATE 1
A message from HKFC Management.
Tennis Courts 1, 2 & 3 have now been installed at the Club. As with all new artificial Courts it is normal practice for them to be slightly ˇ§over sandedˇ¨ in order to assist with bedding in. As the weeks progress the Courts will settle in and the sand will gradually drop to the required International Tennis Federation playing level, but this process may take 2 ˇV 3 months. During this period the Courts will be groomed regularly and they should improve with rain and regular usage.
Please be patient as we have been informed that it is normal for the Courts to play slowly during the initial bedding in period.

THE GRAHAM ORMEROD CUP - REPORT
During February and March, 28 players participated in the inaugural Graham Ormerod Cup in a bid to become the 2010 HKFC Men's Doubles Champions. Despite inclement weather conditions, interruption by the Chinese New Year holidays and the logistical challenge of getting four men with hectic schedules and competing commitments on court at the same time for all 13 matches, we were able to successfully complete the competition on schedule. The event culminated in a thrilling face-off between the two top-seeded teams. Philippe Bonval and Kenneth Kwok put up a valiant effort, but in the end the powerful pairing of Simon Cheung and Andrew Town claimed the 2010 championship in a straight sets victory. The finalists displayed superb skills and sportsmanship throughout the match making it a fantastic spectator event for avid supporters who showed up that morning to support the players. This event would not have been so successful without the hard work of Winston Leung and everybody involved. Helen Ormerod, as always, showed remarkable dedication and determination in ensuring that each and every aspect of the competition went without a hitch. Thank you to SportLine Limited for their generosity in donating prizes. Thanks also to Club staff who were wonderfully efficient and professional as always, in supporting the event. A big thanks goes to each of the 28 players who participated in the Tournament and helped honour Graham Ormerod, the late Chairman of the Tennis Society, to whom this Tournament was dedicated. This Tournament was not just a case of winning or losing a few tennis matches, but a way for each of us to pay our respects to Graham and to recognize his many contributions to tennis at the HKFC. Itis a tribute to his kindness and sincerity that his friends and family will all gather to pay homage each year, and for many years to come, as tennis players compete for the Graham Ormerod Cup. Graham, we miss you ˇV you may be gone, but not forgotten. Until next yearˇKˇK
Below are the winners - Simon Cheung and Andrew Town
