Netball at HKFC has grown substantially in recent years. The established Netball Division has six teams that compete in the Hong Kong Netball Association senior league. Club and Typhoons compete in Division one, Whirlwinds and Monsoons represent HKFC in Division Two, Tornadoes are in Division three and Cyclones play in Division five.
With two netball courts in the Indoor Sports Hall, HKFC is a venue for league matches that take place between October and April each year on Monday evenings. As one of the biggest netball clubs in Hong Kong, Hong Kong Football Club is also one of the most successful, winning Division one for the last two years. The DSA also has strong representation in the Hong Kong Senior and Junior netball squads, competing in high-level international matches and tournaments on a regular basis.
HKFC squads have qualified and dedicated coaches to help the teams improve and develop their skills and understanding of the game. HKFC teams train every week on Wednesdays during the season. In addition the Netball DSA co-ordinates mixed social matches for members and non-members during the off-season period of July and August, which is very popular with players at all levels.
The Junior Netball section is growing rapidly, with more than 100 players training and playing matches year-round. The DSA organises three terms of netball for members and non-members in a successful attempt to grow the sport at a grass-roots level.
Overseas tours in Asia are a regular occurrence and the hosting of touring teams and visits from international coaches increase as the sport continues to grow. Our social calendar is varied and allows opportunities for Netball DSA members to socialise outside of the confines of competition. These include barbecues, cocktail parties, quiz nights, junk trips and an annual AGM and Awards Dinner.
